Description

From the highlands of Timaná, Huila, Colombia Asprotimaná is produced by the ASPROTimaná cooperative, a vibrant network of over 850 smallholder farmers across 22 villages. Founded in 2001 with just 32 members, ASPROTimaná has grown into a movement rooted in quality, sustainability, and social impact, including initiatives like Women in Coffee, which empowers women to manage and process their own crops.

Grown at 1,650–1,850 MASL in rich volcanic soil and processed using the washed method, this coffee thrives under shade trees in nutrient-rich conditions, resulting in a cup that is bright, complex, and expressive. The beans include a mix of prized varietals such as Gesha, Bourbon, Caturra, and Castillo.

In the cup: Aromatic notes of dried apricots, roasted almonds, and winey tones, followed by flavors of burnt caramel, roasted nuts, lime, and apricot, finishing with a long cocoa aftertaste. This coffee features citric, medium-high acidity with a coating body—a lively, flavorful experience in every brew.

A standout Huila coffee with clean structure, juicy brightness, and social impact at its core—ideal for roasters who value both cup quality and producer empowerment.

Excelso EP is a grading term used for Colombian green coffee beans based on bean size and export quality.

  • Excelso refers to the bean size, which is slightly smaller than the top-grade Supremo beans but still high quality. Excelso beans are typically screen size 15/16 and are widely used in specialty coffee due to their excellent flavour and consistency.
  • EP10 (European Preparation): This means the beans are carefully sorted to remove defects and foreign matter, ensuring clean, export-grade coffee. The “10” refers to the maximum number of defects per 300g, which is still well within specialty-grade standards. EP coffees are hand-sorted to meet the high expectations of specialty buyers worldwide.
