From the lush volcanic highlands of western El Salvador, Monte Sion Estate SHG represents more than a century of heritage coffee farming. This third-generation family-run estate has been cultivating exceptional specialty coffee since 1907, with a deep commitment to quality, sustainability, and social impact.
The estate sits within the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor, a protected region that supports rich biodiversity and provides a natural refuge for migratory birds. Grown at 1,250–1,400 masl in nutrient-rich volcanic soil, Monte Sion’s coffee benefits from ideal conditions that produce beans of remarkable flavour and balance.
As an SHG (Strictly High Grown) coffee, these beans develop slowly at higher altitudes, resulting in denser beans with more complex flavours — highly prized by home roasters and specialty cafés alike.
In the cup: Expect aromas of roasted almonds, stone fruit, and chocolate. Flavours include chocolate, Weetbix, roasted almonds, and hints of yellow peach, with a panela sugar sweetness in the aftertaste. The cup is bright and lively with medium sparkling acidity and a smooth, rounded body.
Perfect for medium roasts to highlight fruit and nut notes, or darker roasts to bring out chocolate richness.
